Asphalt Patching

Parking lot and driveway maintenance starts with making the
surface as smooth as possible.
We live in a climate of repeated freeze thaw cycles.
Any place that water can seep into the pavement it does
and will cause cracks to form and they will grow into potholes if not properly maintained.

The key to successful asphalt patching  is preparation and the use of the right materials.

The best material to use for asphalt patch repair is traditional HOT mix asphalt. This product is made at plants that mix liquid asphalt, sand and different sized gravel into a mix that flows while it is hot.
As it cools, the asphalt hardens producing a very durable surface.   Since the application of this product is sensitive to temperature and humidity the plants are only open when the weather is right.

Hot patch prior to seal coat

Another alternative is COLD patch repair.  Cold patch materials are best used for smaller repairs (max repair area of 3’ x 3’ x 4”) and work best when they are contained on all sides. Cold Patch materials work off compaction & when used in an area that does not have sidewalls to contain the material, it will continue to move around and will not harden properly.

Cold patch can be used prior to seal coat
For smaller holes or for use in colder weather
